Naturopplevingar (Nature Experience)
The event planners Naturopplevingar was founded in 1993. Since then we have accumulated a considerable amount of experience through our meetings with all those who has attended our activities and arrangements. From the start, our idea has been to give the participants the best and most consistent experiences possible with the resources we have access to. Naturopplevingar organize arrangements and activities for businesses and tour operators, as well as private groups and individuals. Our activities are carried out with few participants per guide, which guarantees good communication, security and latitude. On our trips we make a point of passing on local culture and character as a part of the experience.
Bakeriet i Lom (Lom Bakery)
The man behind the bakery Bakeriet i Lom is not just anybody in Norway’s culinary society. Morten Schakenda has a long and exciting career behind him as a chef both in Norway and abroad. The bakery’s stoves are always wood fired. The bread is always fresh and baked according to traditional ways. Simple and good raw material, ideally locally produced flour. The bread and the baked goods are made to be remembered. You will remember the time you visited the bakery here. Lom Bakery doesn’t hold with artificial additives and easy solutions. Plenty of time and good raw materials, that are what make the bread delicious. To visit us and taste our bread and our baked goods is supposed to make life just a little bit more special. A treat in everyday life.
Fossheim Hotell
Visiting Fossheim should be like visiting our home. Here you see beautiful log houses built using traditional building practices. Art and antiques bear witness to long traditions. To us, food means a lot. We are proud to say that we have one of the best kitchens in the country, led by Kristoffer Hovland, formerly on the Norwegian Culinary Team. The chefs can treat you to everything from buffets to eight course menus, and they are happy to teach you some of their tricks in one of our cooking classes. We are proud of our traditions, and we would like to pass on that which is genuine, as the Garmo family has done in all the years of running a hotel at Fossheim. Host and wine connoisseur Svein Garmo is third generation hotel owner, and he and his family welcomes you!
Røisheim (Røisheim Hotel)
In 1858, Røisheim took on the rights to run the coaching inn, after which travellers started stopping there to rest before starting the dreaded road over the Sognefjell. That is how tourism came to this place, but the farm itself has roots way back to before the 13th century. After Jotunheimen was ”discovered”, the number of visitors has just gone up. Beautiful Røisheim consists of 17 tarred and protected houses from the 16th to the 18th century with 20 restored rooms. The place has long traditions for taking care of quality minded and adventurous mountain tourists, regardless if they wish to hike to the peaks of Jotunheimen or visit the old, stately coaching inn and take in the atmosphere and the famous gourmet meals. The hosts make sure all guests are well taken care of. You will have to look long and hard to find such a unique and peaceful atmosphere anywhere else.
Storhaugen Gard (Storhaugen Farm)
Storhaugen is situated 20 kilometres from Lom centre in beautiful surroundings. You will find the farm in the middle between Jotunheimen and Breheimen national park. There are countless hiking trails in the area; guided tours or marked trails. There are also many opportunities if you would like to hunt and fish. The farm is still in full operation, so there are still animals around the place, much to the delight of the children. Storhaugen has 70 beds divided between eight units in varying sizes, from 5 to 15 beds. All the units have high standards, complete with kitchens, WCs, bath/shower rooms, sitting rooms and TVs. All stays are based on self-service, but we can cater for groups that book in advance in our cosy dining hall.
