Café Gjendeosen serves up hearty mountain fare for hungry hikers. Located right on the dock where the Gjende boat departs, it’s the natural spot to pause, recharge and enjoy a good meal – either before setting out on your hike, or after a long day in the mountains.

You don’t have to be hiking to drop by – this is also a lovely place to simply sit down and enjoy a delicious meal with panoramic views of the emerald-green Lake Gjende and the surrounding Gjende Alps. In summer, the large outdoor terrace by the water’s edge is perfect for soaking up the atmosphere.

The café menu features a variety of local dishes for both lunch and dinner, changing with the seasons. You’ll always find freshly made waffles, homemade cinnamon buns, and bread baked on-site. And if you're heading out on the Besseggen Ridge, grab a "Besseggen Packed Lunch" – a fresh and filling meal with assorted toppings, local specialities, and seasonal fruit.

Café Gjendeosen also offers a selection of kiosk snacks and souvenirs.

The café opens one hour before the first boat departure and closes one hour after the last boat returns to the dock at Gjendeosen. During peak season, the café stays open into the evening.
