About

Norway's second highest mountain Glittertind, which lies 2452 meters above sea level, is a majestic peak with a great view over large parts of Jotunheimen.

Best starting point:
Glitterheim tourist lodge (1390 m.h.)
Height difference: Approx. 1000 height meters
Estimated time spent: 6-8 hours (return trip). A total of 16 km.
Note: Occasionally overhanging top

The summit of Glittertind is coved of a magnificent snow and ice cap, and has its name from the river Glitra, which flows from Glitterholet in Visdalen. The mountain lies northeast of Jotunheimen between Visdalen and Veodalen in Lom municipality.

You can conquere the peak on your own on marked paths either from Spiterstulen or Glitterheim. The easiest route goes west via the Steinbudalen and follows the summer path east of Glitterbrean or up the glacier itself.

At the top you can enjoy one of the country's most beautiful views. Be careful at the edge as it is coved by an overhangig glacier.

From Spiterstulen: It is also possible to start the trip to Glittertind from the tourist lodge Spiterstulen in Visdalen. Then you go northeast over Skautkampan, over Skauta and further along Steindalselve. Return the same road, or down to Glitterheim.

On this tour you should expect to spend around 9 hours.
